The Gifts of Faith, Hope, & Love
(This full message can be listened to RIGHT HERE.)
"Paul, Silas and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace and peace to you. We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers. We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. For we know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you . . ."
1 Thessalonians 1:1-4
Martin Luther said of the Christian faith, “It is a living, busy, active, mighty thing, this faith!”
What we learn as Paul begins his letter to the young church in Thessalonica is that our work for the Lord is fueled by faith, hope and love. And what the rest of Scripture teaches us is that faith, hope and love are gifts straight from the hand of God. So, the conclusion we draw is that God has given us everything we need to be busy in his kingdom, all the way to the end! We don't work under threat, but out of hope!
