Christianity is a resurrection religion. Christ’s resurrection is as much a part of the Gospel as the crucifixion. We might think that Christ’s rising from the dead was the crescendo of his story - and it did forcefully and energetically affirm a good many things - but really the resurrection of Jesus was the beginning of a tidal wave of movement toward the full and total redemption of God’s people, the renewal of the heavens and the earth, and that day when every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
So if the resurrection of Christ is a tsunami, I want to share with you some of the great waves of that powerful force. If it’s a diamond, I want us to learn about some of its beautiful facets. If it’s a sunrise, I’d like us to be in awe of its individual and beautiful rays of light as they spread and illuminate the landscape. Inasmuch as it’s a work of God, I want to help us understand a few of the things that it guarantees.
